TOPIC: Overcoming The Rule Of The Flesh (Seeds Of Destiny 20 August 2025)

SCRIPTURE: Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), – Ephesians 5:15

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Anyone who is controlled by the flesh is under the spell of failure.

MESSAGE:

It’s clear that a firm willpower and decisive ability are essential on the path of life and in fulfilling one’s destiny. A person’s destiny is supported by the strength of their will. Those whose destinies are strong tend to possess strong decision-making power. Those who achieve success with God and in life generally have a strong will, clear decisions, and the ability to choose.

When I was dating my wife years ago, we agreed that if immorality ever entered the relationship, it would spell the end of the relationship. In other words, immorality would signal that the marriage would not endure as intended. By God’s mercy, that resolve held, and the vow remained intact throughout our courtship.

The truth is that anyone ruled by the flesh falls under the influence of failure. If the flesh governs your life, your future becomes uncertain. Therefore, you must decide that your life will not be driven by fleshly desires.

Rise to action when needed. How can the devil respect you if you don’t respect your own word or will? Much of the damage or irrelevance in life stems from a lack of discipline.

So, what is the remedy for indiscipline? How can one overcome the cravings of the flesh?

1. Absolutely surrender yourself to the control of the Holy Spirit.
2. Learn to say No! to the flesh. When the mind is made up, anything is possible. Refuse to oversleep when you have a lot to do. Refuse the temptation of immorality, carnality, materialism, falsehood, theft, etc.
3. Surround your life with disciplined people. Let serious minded people be your friends. Iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17).

Remember this: Anyone who is controlled by the flesh is under the spell of failure.

ASSIGNMENT(S):

• Go through the therapy for indiscipline outlined in today’s lesson again.
• Ask God for help to overcome, if you have a weakness you are battling with.

PRAYER: Lord, deliver me from the spell of indiscipline. I receive the grace to keep the flesh under subjection, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
