Pastor Tunde Bakare Demands: Nigerian Leaders Must Apologize to Wounded Communities

Lagos, Nigeria: Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, has publicly called upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to issue a national apology to communities devastated by repeated attacks and displacement across the country.

During a recent Sunday service message focused on governance and justice, Pastor Bakare lamented the persistent loss of lives and destruction of villages, characterizing the current government’s silence as “deeply troubling.”

The cleric insisted that the government must first and foremost “accept responsibility for decades of failure to protect citizens from terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes.”

While acknowledging the President’s initial steps, Pastor Bakare stressed that the apology must be followed by decisive action, including a comprehensive security overhaul, compensation, and proactive measures to restore confidence and trust between the government and citizens.
