10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.

11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.

12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.

13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.

15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?

16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

Open Heaven 24 April 2025 MESSAGE

I’ll wrap up the teaching I started yesterday by recounting one of my experiences. Years ago, the Nigerian government wanted to make sure that everyone receiving pensions was still alive, so they led all retirees to a specific location. I decided to go because I had retired from the university as a lecturer. While I was there, a woman, also a senior, noticed me and started screaming.

She explained that she had been pregnant for nearly 14 years and asked me to pray for her. I lay my hands on her, uttered a little prayer, and she delivered right there in that office. The people nearby began to wonder who I was. When the Holy Spirit descends upon you, you will become a wonder.

The Holy Spirit liberates captives and makes them free to do God’s will. During Jesus’ human mission, the Spirit of the Lord descended on Him, and he performed numerous powerful miracles. In today’s Bible reading, a woman who had been bent over for eighteen years due to a spirit of infirmity is set free and stands erect. She had been limited in what she could see and accomplish, but when Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, lay His hands on her, she stood up straight and glorified God.

People all around were ecstatic at what had been accomplished. At another time, Jesus encountered a man who had been ill for thirty-eight years. Immediately, Jesus urged him to get out of bed and walk (John 5:1-9). In another place, He restored a madman who lived among the tombs to his senses (Mark 5:1-15). He also revived Lazarus after he had been dead for four days (John 11:1-44). Jesus went about doing good because the Holy Spirit was with Him (Acts 10:38). When He comes upon you, you will go about doing good, curing the sick, and delivering those afflicted by the enemy.

The Holy Spirit, on the other hand, does not coerce individuals or attempt to create miracles in their lives. Are you a willing vessel? Are you willing to do His will and follow every command? In Jesus’ name, I pray that you will enter an extraordinary dimension of the Holy Spirit and allow Him to perform great and amazing wonders through you.
