MEMORISE: John 12:46
I am come a light into the world that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
From Bartimaeus’s tale, we discern that despair and darkness are intertwined. One doesn’t need profound knowledge to empathize with the sorrow of a blind beggar. May your vision always remain clear, in the name of Jesus. When darkness and grief coexist, it implies that light is synonymous with joy. As Psalm 16:11 mentions: “In your presence, there is abundant joy; at your right hand are eternal pleasures.”
The scripture reveals that when the Lord reversed the fortunes of the people, they were overwhelmed with laughter. Such is the essence of Light; it instills joy. Joy is embodied by light (John 16:24). Consider the tale of a woman who, after witnessing the demise of her children, sought help from a spiritual prophet. Upon arriving, the prophet’s wife provided her with a kolanut, declaring it the remedy.
After consuming it, the woman found herself amidst a dark ritual at night and was persuaded to sacrifice her husband. Two years later, she was coerced to offer one of her children – the ones she had sought to safeguard. During one of our sessions in Ilorin, I observed a disturbance among the attendees. After the sermon, I was informed that the woman’s attire had mysteriously ignited during my speech. Following a brief prayer, she embraced Christianity, and upon returning home, she expelled a deceased snake from her system.
The lesson here is that darkness offers nothing but grief. Only God’s blessings bring prosperity without anguish, as stated in Proverbs 10:22. If temptation presents itself in the guise of a good deed, may you remain steadfast and unaffected, in Jesus’ name. If you recognize yourself as a beacon of light, how can you distance yourself from Jesus, the world’s luminary? Jesus invites everyone in Matthew 11:28, urging, “All who are weary and burdened, come to me, and I will grant you solace.”
Remaining in shadows leads to perpetual agony. However, by embracing Jesus Christ, you are offered a fresh start and a chance to reshape your destiny. To truly immerse in the Light, it is essential to live a righteous life henceforth.
