Text: 1 Chronicles 16:13-36
Message
There is a direct relationship between heartfelt praise and supernatural intervention. The Scriptures are replete with such proven examples. As Jehoshaphat praised the Lord, the confederacy of enemies against his people scattered. Paul and Silas sang praises and prison doors were opened and their bonds were loosed. For those who praise the Lord from truly transformed hearts, God often responds with immediacy. Real praise brings the power of God to bear on our world.
David did not praise God just because it caught his fancy. His praise was borne out of an intimate relationship with God, a keen awareness of His majesty and His great deeds. He acknowledged God as the great Judge, covenant-Keeper, Defender and Protector. He praised Him for daily salvation, marvellous works among all nations, mercy, His greatness and goodness. He invites the earth to sing unto the Lord, declare His glory and strength; give unto Him offering, fear and worship in the beauty of holiness (1 Chronicles 16:29,30).
Praising and singing to God is a duty believers are called to engage in as His redeemed. We praise God for His incomparability to other gods, His goodness, gift of salvation, answer to prayers, good health, healing, deliverances, provision, protection, promotion and many unmerited mercies.
Praises ignite God’s power. Real and acceptable praises emanate from a saved life and pure heart. Do you find it difficult sustaining your praises and thanksgiving before the Lord? Then seek a relationship with the Lord for a walk in the Spirit that compels an instinctive praise and thanksgiving, even in the face of challenges. Only then will He give you a heart of praise and thanksgiving, and cause you to enjoy His protection today and beyond.
Thought for the day
Real praises ignite the power of God.
