The family of prominent Nigerian gospel singer and evangelist Olubunmi Akinnaanu Adeoye, popularly known as “Omije Ojumi,” has confirmed her passing on Monday, January 12, 2026. The announcement, released on Tuesday, January 13, stated that the 46-year-old minister died at a hospital in Lagos following a period of illness.
Known for her deeply emotional worship and the hit song from which she drew her stage name, the singer’s health had been a subject of public concern since late 2025. In October 2025, videos surfaced showing her in a frail condition during a church service in Ibadan, where she was receiving prayers for a severe leg ailment involving persistent bleeding. Despite the outpouring of support and nationwide prayer sessions that followed, the family confirmed she ultimately succumbed to her illness. The gospel community and fans across Nigeria continue to share tributes honoring her decade-long transition from the banking sector to a celebrated career in spiritual music.
