LAGOS — Popular Nigerian cleric Evangelist Ebuka Obi, spiritual director of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach (ZPMO), has ignited a heated debate across social media following a viral clip where he advises women against dating only one man at a time.
In the trending video, which has been widely circulated by various media outlets including Zionbars TV, the evangelist suggests that “exclusive dating” might be the reason many women find themselves repeatedly single.
The “Multiple Options” StrategyDuring the session, Obi stated that dating multiple suitors simultaneously is a practical way for women to protect their time and emotional well-being. According to the cleric, this approach allows a woman to effectively vet her options and identify the most sincere candidate.
“Never date only one man at a time, this is why they keep leaving you. Date multiple men at once so you can know which one is more serious,” Obi declared.
The statement has met with a polarizing reception online, cutting across religious and social lines:Supporters argue that the advice is “realistic” in a modern dating climate where many people are not upfront about their intentions. They view it as a form of “auditioning” rather than infidelity.
Critics, however, have questioned the morality of the advice coming from a religious leader. Many argue that promoting “multi-dating” contradicts traditional Christian values of single-mindedness and sincerity in relationships.
