My response when I am told that I am the richest pastor in the world. – Bishop Oyedepo

Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church, recounted his reaction to being voted the richest pastor in the world during his speech at the Annual International Youth Alive Convention.

He recalled how one of his kids in the United States alerted him about the news, to which he answered that he didn’t have time to check the news since he was too busy working.

According to him; “One of my sons in the US called me and said, Are you seeing what they published about you? And I said, What time do I have to check the news? I’m working,” I said.

He humorously added, “He said they named you the richest pastor in the world. I said they’re not lying.” Bishop Oyedepo went on to clarify that the organization that conducted the ranking had inaccurately assessed his net worth.

He mentioned that the reported amount was exaggerated, stating, “It’s just that they said I’m worth one stupid amount. That’s not my worth. Nobody can calculate my worth.

My worth is Philippians 4:19, according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” He took the opportunity to caution his congregation against elevating money to an excessive status, emphasizing that they shouldn’t prioritize it to the extent of compromising their values.

He warned, “Don’t give yourself to the god of gold. Anything of no value to a man cannot secure his worship. Money is not evil, but when it becomes a god to you, then it becomes the root of all evils.”
