Chidinma Ekile, renowned for her breakthrough single “Jehovah Overdo,” has revealed that she regrets not transitioning to gospel music earlier in her career.
The award-winning artist initially gained fame by winning the third season of Project Fame West Africa in 2010, followed by a string of hit singles such as “Jankoliko,” “Carry You Go,” and “Kedike.”
In May 2021, Chidinma announced her shift to gospel music and active involvement in Christian ministry through her Instagram page.
During an interview with Punch, Chidinma expressed her wish that she had embraced gospel music sooner, acknowledging that only God knows where she might have been today if she had made the switch earlier. She remarked, “I wish I had made the switch earlier. If I had started this earlier, only God knows where I would have been by now. But, at the end of the day, all things worked together for good and at the right time.”
Chidinma also discussed the challenges she faced in transitioning from a secular artist to a gospel musician.
When asked about her hopes for the gospel music industry, she emphasized the importance of nurturing new talent and supporting young individuals who aspire to enter the gospel music realm. She expressed excitement about the Gospel Groove Talent Quest organized by EeZee Conceptz and the potential it holds for discovering and developing new gospel talents.
Chidinma Ekile expressed her joy in her musical journey and her dedication to continuing her mission of spreading the gospel of Jesus through her music.
