Key Verse
“All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, see ye, when he lifteth up an ensign on the mountains; and when he bloweth a trumpet, hear ye” (Isaiah 18:3).

TEXT — Isaiah 18:1-4
Message
A Ugandan man told a story about how his house collapsed. It started with cracks all over the walls. Then, one of the roofs in the building caved in. One year later, the walls began to bulge. Then, the house started moving, with the floors sagging. Within six months, he began to hear some noise from his own building. Yet, these signs were not enough for him. One day, while in the market, he got a telephone call that his house had collapsed. Luckily for him, no one was in the building.

The passage deals with a particular land, which was threatening God’s people. There is no agreement among Bible scholars as to whether the land was Egypt, Assyria or Ethiopia/Cush, but the Bible says it lies beyond the rivers of Ethiopia. The land sent messengers and ambassadors to proclaim war on a successful, mighty and strong people of God. Despite the signs shown the land, its people failed to see the writing on the wall. A signal had been raised on the wall and a trumpet had been blown; yet, they did not hear. They failed to understand that God was watching them and would thwart their plans.

There are signs everywhere today showing us that the world is coming to a close. Apart from terrible sicknesses that have pervaded the earth, strange things are happening: widespread killings, deployment of satanic powers (even in churches), unprecedented sexual revolution and perversion, hatred for God and His people, wars, famine, natural disasters and other strange and terrifying happenings. Do you recognise these signs, or are you like the Ugandan landlord? Take heed to these unrelenting signs and seek refuge in God always.

Thought for the day
Signs and times call for rapture-readiness.
