Renowned Nigerian gospel singer Frank Edwards has publicly voiced his strong support for the trending Christian song “No Turning Back” by Gaise Baba and Lawrence Oyor, following recent criticism from an unnamed pastor.Edwards took to social media to express his bewilderment, asking, “HOW CAN SOMEONE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS SONG ??? HOW ????”
He acknowledged understanding “old time ways coming from a scripture union background,” but asserted that such traditional approaches would hinder soul-winning in the current generation. He concluded his statement by urging people to “take it easy on us.”
This reaction from Frank Edwards comes after a clergyman reportedly criticized the song, claiming it deviated from the original intent of its message, which was said to be a reflection on Luke 9:23.
The pastor reportedly stated that the song had evolved into mere “vibes” with “nothing gospel about it” and also criticized the physical appearance of Gaise Baba and Lawrence Oyor.
Earlier, gospel minister Nathaniel Bassey also showed support for “No Turning Back,” envisioning the song being sung in school assembly lines worldwide and seeing it as a “fresh Jesus consciousness” sweeping across the youth and the world.
He emphasized that not all artists would sound the same, and some are meant to release unique, spirit-laced sounds to “access unchartered territories for Christ.”
