TOPIC: THE VOICE OF GOD OUR GREATEST ASSET
SCRIPTURE: And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God… that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee…Deuteronomy 28:1-2
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The blessing of man is directly tied to the Voice of the Lord.
Our anchor Scripture makes it abundantly clear that if you hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD your God, all His blessings shall come on you and overtake you. This means that the blessing of God in the life of man is directly tied to the Voice of the Lord.
And what is that Voice? It is God speaking to you, telling you what to do and what not to do. The Voice of God shows you which business to engage in, which friend to disconnect from. Access to the Voice of God is worth more than gold.
It was the Voice of God that made Abraham who he was. The Lord told Abraham to leave his father’s house, his country, and his kindred. That Voice turned into a blessing: “I will make of thee a great nation… and thou shalt be a blessing.” (Genesis 12:2). The question is, who was Abraham without that Voice of God? The answer is, Nothing. What would Abraham have been without that voice? Nothing.
The same pattern continued with Isaac. In Genesis Chapter Twenty-Six, there was a famine in the land, and Isaac went to Abimelech, king of the Philistines, at Gerar, and the Lord appeared to him and spoke. Everything that became of Isaac in that land began with the phrase, “God said.”
That Voice of God that led Isaac to make certain decisions changed everything about his life. He sowed in that land, received a hundredfold in the same year of famine, waxed great, went forward, and grew until he became very great, until the Philistines envied him (Genesis 26:12-14).
This is the pattern of Scripture. The blessing of man is tied to the Voice of the Lord. That is why God said through Isaiah, O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! Then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea. Isaiah 48:18. That is, if you hearken to God’s Voice, your peace becomes like a river. God will always speak peace to His people (Psalm 85:8), but they must be willing to hear.
Beloved, you do not have to be a prophet to hear the Voice of God. Jesus says in John 10:27, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. If you are His sheep, you are qualified to hear His Voice. His Voice can come through a dream in the night; through a vision or revelation; through Scripture itself; through conviction or inward witness; through several other channels where you simply know: “This is what God is saying.”
That access to the Voice of God is a blessing that money cannot buy. So many people are stranded today simply because they do not know what to do – but the day you know what to do, you begin to live above where you are. Stop chasing only material things and begin to cultivate your access to God’s voice. It is the asset that turns famines into harvests, uncertainty into direction, and ordinary men into history makers.
REMEMBER THIS: The blessing of man is directly tied to the Voice of the Lord.

- Go through today’s study again and meditate on the lives of Abraham and Isaac and the role God’s voice played in their destinies.
- Make a deliberate decision today to cultivate your sensitivity to God’s Voice through prayer, the Word, and quiet waiting before Him.
PRAYER: Father, thank You for the privilege of Your Voice. I receive the grace to be sensitive and obedient to Your Voice of direction in every area of my life. Let Your Voice lead me away from error and into the fullness of Your blessing, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
