Key Verse
“All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king” (1 Chronicles 12:38).
TEXT — 1 Chronicles 12:23-40
Message
A young girl wanted to study in a top-notch university in her country but there was nobody to support her. Her parents were poor and their well-to-do relatives did not care. One day, after praying fervently, a woman saw her in a market and started gazing at her. The woman was wondering why the young girl looked much like her childhood friend. It later turned out that that woman and the young girl’s mother were primary school mates. At the end of the day, the woman met her childhood friend and decided to see the young girl throughout her university studies.
Today’s text has a listing of different tribes of Israel who were ready to turn the kingdom from Saul to David. The individuals were of one and perfect heart, and were there to accomplish God’s plan for David. They were also experts in their own right. While the children of Issachar understood the times and what Israel ought to do, those of Zebulun and Dan were experts in war. The descendants of Naphtali could expertly handle shields and spears. In their thousands, they came to make David king and were neither mischievous nor crafty about their mission. The interesting thing was that they were with David for three days, eating and drinking.
What a blessedness it is to have destiny helpers who will defy all odds to support us. There are many who have lost hope in life, thinking that God has abandoned them. Remember, if thousands of people from different tribes of Israel could be willing to make David king, God can draw people from any corner of the earth to come to your aid, as long as you are within the circle of His will. Pray that He sends such help your way to enable you accomplish His purpose.
