Bishop Oyedepo Prohibits Hijab Use in Church Schools

Speaking at a recent church service, Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church, strongly criticized the demand by some Muslim groups to allow female students to wear hijabs in mission schools.

Oyedepo called the demand an act of “overstepping boundaries,” comparing it to a tenant dictating terms to a landlord. He insisted that mission schools should maintain their original standards and told those making the demands to “leave the schools for the owners” and build their own institutions where the hijab could be worn.

The cleric also warned against what he called the “harassment of the church,” cautioning that “God is a consuming fire” and that these actions could lead to divine judgment.

Malia who shared the video on X (Twitter) wrote:“Pastor Oyedepo is right. If you want to wear a hijab, attend a Muslim-owned school. You can’t impose Islamic dress codes on a university that is owned, run, and funded by a church”
