The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has withdrawn the arrest warrant issued against Ezekiel Onyedikachi, popularly known as Eezee Tee, the former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo. This decision comes after Justice Alexander Owoeye issued a bench warrant last week following an ex parte application by the EFCC.
The EFCC’s lawyer, Bilikisu Buhari, requested the court to withdraw the warrant. This development follows allegations by Mercy Chinwo that Eezee Tee diverted $345,000 in royalties from her digital platforms and event earnings. Eezee Tee, in response to these accusations, took to Instagram to accuse Chinwo of ingratitude and breaching their contract.
The manager’s legal representative pleaded with the court, stating that their client was unaware of the previous summons and assured the court of his voluntary appearance. The EFCC agreed to withdraw the warrant on the condition that Eezee Tee will honor future court appearances.
The case has now been adjourned to February 14, 2025, for the arraignment of Eezee Tee.
