Pastor David Oyedepo Jnr, the resident pastor of Faith Tabernacle and the son of Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church, has told a story of how he rejected a prophet offering from a youth in his church.
During his sermon at the Annual International Youth Alive Convention, he mentioned this. He mentioned in his sermon on the need for sanctification that one day at church, a small boy brought him a present as a prophet offering, but his spirit forbade him from collecting it.
He then instructed them to return the present and summon the boy to his office. “When the boy came, I asked him, What do you do? He said I’m into cryptocurrency and other things. I said my friend, Tell me what you really do. Then I found out this boy was into Yahoo Yahoo,” he said.
He shared that this boy was an active member of the church.
“He was active in church. Never missed a prayer meeting. The title they call you does not matter. They may call you a pastor or deacon. What matters is whether you look like Jesus,” he said.
He urged his congregation to put off the works of the old man if they were truly born again.
“There are things you used to do before you gave your life to Christ. If you are truly born again, those things must stop. If you are a new man, put off the old man,” he said.
